The difference is rooted in the audience the book is aimed at. MLA Handbook for Writers of Reseach Papers is written for high school and undergraduate students. - Referencing in MLA Citation Style what is preferable: underlining or italics?
Underlining is preferred, as italic type can not be easily recognizable in material that will be graded by tutor or edited for publication.

Referencing in MLA Citation Style requires only one space after a concluding punctuation mark.
- If a title begins with a numeral, how should it be alphabetized?
Going by MLA referencing, the title should be alphabetized as if the numeral were spelled out.

- If encyclopedic articles are not arranged alphabetically, use the encyclopedia article as if it were a book article. Note that specific volume and page numbers are cited in the text but not in the list of references.
